Time to start working on those glutes! Step ups are excellent to build lower body and core strength, with a strong emphasize on the glutes. A nice part about this exercise is that, when preformed properly, weights aren’t even needed!
Look for approximately 3 right angles when doing a step up (remember everyone is different). Your lifted ankle, knee, and hips should all be at right angles. Wearing Adidas is great because you can use the stripes on the pants as a reference. The picture on the left shows the most common mistake where the knee is bent at the top of the movement. Without getting into too many details about the hamstrings crossing over 2 joints and having multiple functions, just know this is the wrong form 😉 The picture on the right shows the correct form with the hip, knee, and ankle at 90 degrees.
